SC pg 114 #11 (Who vs Whom)

Why is the correct answer "Whom we like best" and not "Who we like best." Please explain who vs whom.

whom is an object pronoun. in other words, it's used in the same context as are other object pronouns, such as "me", "him", "her", and "us".

who is a subject pronoun. in other words, it's used in the same context as are other subject pronouns, such as "i", "he", "she", and "we".

in this context:
the correct form would be "we like HIM/HER best". you would not say "we like HE/SHE best".
this means that you need an object pronoun in this context. therefore, you need "whom".
