Retaking the GMAT

by JesseZ169 Tue Oct 28, 2014 4:16 pm

Hello - I am looking for some advice on retaking the GMAT. I had a very bad day and scored well below my practice scores and where I want to be. My scores since finishing the class were

Test 1: Quant 44 and Verbal 38
Test 2: Quant 44 and Verbal 39
Prep Test 1: Quant 44 and Verbal 38
Prep Test 2: Quant 48 and Verbal 38
GMAT Exam: Quant 43 and Verbal 32

I'm really not even sure what happened. I didn't feel like I did that poorly and was in shock when the score came on the screen. I'm going to take a few days off to mentally recover, but I want to take the test again and really don't know where to start. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I'm sorry that you had a rough test day - this happens sometimes.

Take a look at this to see which possible causes you think apply to your case (then come back and tell us):

Also, if you took our course, then you're eligible for a free Post-Exam Assessment (if you haven't done it already). This is a phone call with an instructor to figure out what happened on test day and come up with a plan to re-take the test. If this applies to you (or if you want to check whether it does), please send an email to gmat@manhattanprep.com and request the Post-Exam Assessment.

If you are eligible for a PEA, you can also continue with us here. Or you can do your PEA first and then feel free to clarify or ask questions about any of the advice that you received.
