Retake GMAT.

by gauravk Tue Dec 27, 2011 9:01 pm

Hi
I recently gave GMAT and got 720( Q50-92%, V37-81%).
I have almost 8 yrs of work experience in semiconductor technology business and have worked with one of the best Semiconductor companies in the business as Electronics Engineer.
I graduated from one of the best engineering colleges of India, and have been involved integrally in the productization of some major know products in market.
Unfortunately have a bad acads < 6/10 CGPA .
Does my bad acads hamper my chances of getting a good college?
Got some good recos and promotions in past couple of years . Does it help anyhow ?
I am aiming at LSB /Stanford/Columbia.
Should I retake GMAT to cover up my bad acads ?
Thanks
rachel

Hi! Your GMAT is already strong, especially your quant score - at the 92nd percentile. I am not sure whether taking the GMAT again is going to help you, unless you think you can hold on to that quant score and bring your verbal higher. Given your weak academic record, you might want to consider writing an optional essay where you explain why your grades in college were low, and then present evidence of how you have since changed. One way to show that is by giving details of maturity through professional advancement.

Best of luck,
Rachel Beck
