Retake and adcoms view on Retake

by sathyaram2006 Wed Jul 06, 2011 2:45 pm

Dear Manhattan

I have given GMAT twice .

1ST Attempt: 490 , did not put effort at all -almost 2 ys back

2nd attempt:500 with preparation for 3 months

I am 10 yrs exp Indian IT female with background in sales and IT services delivery and have completed part time MBA.

I went for a kaplan course and gave all their tests and was scoring consistently more than 660 in all the last 4-5 tests.

I thought it is the best time to give GMAT and hence decided to go ahead with my actual test. Unfortunately i lost focus and concentration and lost the test

I am only targetting LBS , please advice how will they see my repeated attempts .

FYI- I have purchased Manhattan books now and planning to go through them again and plan to give tests in the next 3-6 months.

The most recent attempt has destroyed my confidence.

Your advice and help is very much appreciated.

Regards
Sathya

Hi Sathya,

Thanks for writing in. Traditionally business schools only look at your highest score, regardless of number of attempts. As a 500 is unlikely to get you into LBS, I would recommend retaking the exam.

Good luck!
