Retake 3rd GMAT?

I have my GMAT scheduled for 24th, this Friday. I have already applied to UCLA but my first score (610) was below their average, so I decided to take it again since they are accepting GMAT scores until end of April.

At this time, I am scoring much lower on my GMAT practice tests (around 580-600), and do not feel confident that I will be able to increase my score considerably.

I am really confused right now whether to take the 2nd GMAT, and if I get a low score, should I retake the GMAT 3rd time. How will this affect my application? I am planning to apply to Haas, Kellog and Chicago along with re-application to UCLA if I got a rejection this time.

I will really appreciate any help with this.

Thank you for writing in; you sound anxious right now and I hope my answer can be of some help. I can't tell you whether to take the GMAT this Friday as scheduled; that really has to come down to your own confidence vs. level of anxiety. But whether you do take it Friday or not, my advice is to take a couple of months to clear your head, then re-focus on studying and take it again (for the third or second time, depending on what you do on Friday). Many schools only ask for your highest score, and even if they do ask how many times you've taken the test, you certainly won't be the only applicant to have taken it three times.
