Request to Evaluate Profile

by brettcatlin Tue Nov 24, 2009 3:00 pm

GMAT: 700 (Q41, V45) - Second attempt, initially scored a 550 (Q28 -ouch), but was able to boost performance to a 700 in 31 days. I assume this won't hinder my application.

Undergraduate: 3.88 G.P.A (Cumulative), 3.95 (Major). Graduated Magna Cum Laude from a well respected state school with a degree in Economics (BSBA).

Work Experience: Full-time post undergrad experience will be 26 months. Employed at Fortune-50 in a leadership development program (1 of 10 candidates). Rotated through various geographic locations primarily supporting finance roles. Solid project examples and references. I've also owned a small business since 2001 that generates around 10k a year in revenue. Great internship experience as well.

Community Involvement: Very involved during college, including term as president of Business Admin College Council. Minimal, but respectable involvement since graduating.

Other: Recently completed a Grad Cert. in Project Management from UVA. Program was 24 credit hours (8 courses) over 3 semesters. All A's.

Target Programs: UVA, Georgetown, Yale, Rochester, William&Mary

Thanks for the feedback!

Hello,

Thank you for your inquiry. No, taking the GMAT twice will not hurt your applications. Based on your grades, and work experience in what seems to be an elite rotational program, as well as your activities outside of work I think that you would be competitive at Georgetown, Rochester and William & Mary. With more competitive programs, Yale and Darden may be a reach for you. This will depend on the extent to which you can present examples of your leadership and a history of accomplishment during the past 3-5 years. The essays are going to be key for you in terms of distinguishing yourself versus other applicants.

Sincerely,

Akiba Smith-Francis
