Realistic Chance to make it to Top 5?

by Anil Tue Nov 25, 2008 1:30 am

Hello Jeremy,

Finally managed to crack the 700 mark(710, Q50, V35) but not until i goofed two times before this. Last two attempts were 690 and 690. Apparently I belong to this range although my practice test scores, all above 750 including MGMAT tests, will say different story. I save the worst for the day. More on this later, if anyone is interested.

Anyway, I will highly appreciate if you could help me with my paradigma of applying to schools with this gmat score history. Do you think Adcom will see the history unfavorably as many applicants are able to get much better results after their previous attempts. I belong to the biggest applicant pool Male Indian IT although have 4 years of international experience (5 overall) with 2 years of Abroad education fully sponsored by a company.

What are my realistic chances of making it to Top 5 Schools?

I will highly appreciate your perspective on this?
Thanks again
Anil

Admittedly, at times, it can be difficult to track this forum and understand which questions have been answered and which have not - one of the reasons why Manhattan GMAT gave us a sticky thread at the top of the forum. Feel free to ask questions on our thread - we won’t miss them! Thanks for your patience.

You don’t have to worry about your GMAT history. All three of your scores are fine and within range for top-schools. Schools expect that you will take the exam more than once. All they are concerned with is your highest score.

In terms of your chances, I will need more information on your career progress, community activity and personal accomplishments.

Sincerely,
Jeremy Shinewald
