Reading comp help

by cooper2248817 Sat Oct 04, 2008 12:04 pm

I think I have a problem with reading. When I get a reading comp passage, I try to read it as fast as I can and often see myself all over the place, including the questions. The result, a bad scores.

How slow should I read it? Should I read it slow enough to read each word.

Furthermore what is an acceptable score on r/c.

Thanks

Reading Comp

Reading so fast that you are "all over the place" is not good, but neither is the other extreme of poring over every word. How to strike a balance requires a more lengthy explanation than we can provide here, but you should check out our newly revised Reading Comprehension Strategy Guide.

Hint: It is not just how fast or slow you read, but what you look for and write down as you read.

As for "acceptable score on RC," I am not sure what you mean. You will not get a separate Reading Comp score, as the Verbal score is determined by RC, Critical Reasoning, and Sentence Correction questions.
