Quick multiplication

by JbhB682 Fri Apr 17, 2020 10:36 am

Just wondering, would the GMAT expect you to multiply 12 * 95

If so, any tips on quick calculation for these number numbers (obviously without doing the entire multiplication)

I have improved on division / subtraction but not sure what tips i could use to quicker multiply

thank you !

That looks somewhat on the edge of what you'd be expected to do. I'd first note that the product ends in a "0" (2x5).

One approach to difficult multiplication is to break one of the numbers down into easier numbers, much like the technique of benchmarking %. You could do 10x95 and then add 2x95.
