Questions Type Frequency

by adm45 Sat Nov 10, 2012 1:16 pm

Hi,

If possible, please provide a breakdown of the frequency question types (particularly math) on recent GMATs. For example, common, medium, low.

Thanks,

How often is functions and series of functions tested?

How often is direct/inverse proportion tested? Is there an article/link to assist with this question type.

series, unusual functions, weird symbols, etc - not that common. Just your "standard" functions with the a-sub-n type notation? You'll probably see one.

Direct / inverse proportion not that common. I can't think of a direct / inverse proportion article off of the top of my head; the best thing to do is search the blog for those terms and see if anything pops up!

common: algebra anything with equations (exponents, roots, basic, quadratic, exponential)
NP divis and primes, odd, even, pos, neg
WP: general "story problems" and stats
fractions, percents

medium: inequalities (true inequalities, not inequalities being used to disguise something else, such as pos and neg)
geo triangles, circle, polygons
ratios, rates and work (this last one is medium / low)

low:
combinatorics, probability, overlapping sets
geo 3D, combined shapes, weird shapes
other fringe stuff like digits, remainders, "weird" functions, etc.
