Here is my situation:
Got a biology degree with an emphasis in molecular biology - GPA: 2.9
Worked for a year as a molecular/cellular biologist for a university. Discovered that wasn't my cup of tea, so I took a job as a personal banker at a big commercial bank.
Worked there for a year, got some good experience and excellent training, then moved on to work for a commercial wholesale lending company.
Worked there for 15 months, where I was number one in the nation for 9 months in production, then was laid off as a result of the economic downturn.
Now, I am unemployed and thinking about taking three classes this summer to develop an alternate transcript. I have already taken intro accounting courses at a local community college, so I was thinking about taking financial accounting and both micro and macroeconomics (i'm not only taking these for the alternative transcript, i also need them as prerequisites for a couple of jobs I"m applying to in August.)
Before I was laid off, my plan was to apply this fall because I would have received a promotion into management. I believe that this would have given me the experience I would need. Now that things have changed, I am planning on postponing everything by a year to get more work experience.
Haven't taken the GMAT yet, but I should score between 660-680 (I have been casually studying since I was laid off, and I seem to be picking up on things fairly well). Planning on taking it in late September.
Planning on focusing on finance while in school.
My question is that given all of this, can i expect to have a realistic chance of getting into lower tier 1 schools?
Thanks for your response...sorry for the long post.
