Question on Difficulty level

by krishna.valluripalli Mon Sep 30, 2013 6:54 pm

Hello,

Can someone please clarify on questions vs. level of difficulty. I understand that with each correct response, the level of difficulty for the subsequent question will be higher and vice-versa. Does this mean that if you get multiple questions wrong in CR, do you get easy questions in SC/RC? is the level of difficulty inter-related among the sections?

Please clarify.

Thanks alot,
Krishna Valluripalli

In *general* the test gets harder as you answer things correctly, yes, but it's not necessarily the case that the very next question will be harder than the one you just answered. The test is balancing a lot of factors, not just difficulty level.

The questions given are based on your overall performance to that point in the section, not just your performance on each type of question - so, yes, you would get easier questions of all types if you get a bunch of questions wrong / your score drops.

In general, you can't actually do anything about any of this during the test. :) All you can do is ask yourself whether you can answer this question in a reasonable amount of time (if so, do so; if not, guess and move on), and then move to the next one and repeat. Don't think about difficulty level, whether you're getting them right or wrong, what your score is - that stuff is just taking valuable attention and brain power away from your task, which is the question on the screen in front of you right now.
