Question level difficulty

by Guest Mon Apr 28, 2008 7:07 pm

In the real GMAT will a question have the difficulty range of 500-600 /600-700 /700-800 as we see in MGMAT practice CATS and Questions Banks?

(or)

Will every Q be more fine grained to a level of difficulty in multiples of 50's and 10's? Some thing like 550-600/700-750 (or) 610-620/ 730-740 range?

Thanks

The questions are much more finely categorized - even on our tests. We just only tell you the 100-point range. :)

We have ours calculated in 10-point increments based upon our students' performance on these questions - each question has been answered by thousands of students, so we have a lot of data. (Though understand that standard deviation still factors into this, of course!). I don't know how granular the measures are on the official test.
