Proponents of :- use of as vs like

Q.100 OG Verbal review

[deleted because the question comes from a banned source - see below]

Here the OG tells that either the clause, as an expert does, or the prepositional phrase, like an expert, is correct and idiomatic in this sentence.
How come, as is not required in this sentence... we cannot use like it means comparing the experts with the power of computers to understand....

My answer is C.

A is wrong for lack of parallelism
(A) as an expert does-computers that will be used to diagnose equipment breakdowns, deciding whether to authorize a loan

B is wrong for using 'which' after a verb 'does'

(B) as an expert does, which may be used for purposes such as diagnosing equipment breakdowns or deciding whether to authorize a loan

C -- my answer

D --is awkward and wrong use of 'like' you need a 'such as' to list examples

(D) like an expert, the use of which would be for purposes like the diagnosis of equipment breakdowns or the decision whether or not a loan should be authorized

E --awkward
