[PREP SC] Proponents of artificial...

by CheungT939 Wed Jun 04, 2014 1:37 am

Hi Ron,

I would like to ask a question about the following sc question from PREP:

[redacted]

In manhattan SC review, there is a part where it says:

If you want to compare 2 things that has a VERB within it, you should use AS.

eg: As X passed the test, Y also passed the test
OR
Like X, Y also passed the test

In orther words, you can only compare X and Y with a "LIKE" but not with "AS"

The OA, (C) says can understand........., ......, ..... LIKE an EXPERT.

Is there a kind of contradiction here or did I not fully understand the content mentioned in the sentence correction review?

Thanks!

Just to mention, I understand that the other answers with "AS" are wrong because of the other conspicuous flaws, but I am just wondering about the "AS" and "LIKE" comparison part.

Thanks!

Do you have a screen shot of that problem in GMAT PREP?

Sorry for the inconvenience, but that problem is in OG.

If the problem is in GMAT PREP, please upload a screen shot.

If the problem is not in GMAT PREP, or if you can no longer take a screen shot of it, please post a thread in the general folder in which you reference the OG problem, but don't actually quote it.

Thanks.
