I will be applying for the fall 2014 round of applications, and would love to get your feedback.

25 years old, hispanic female

Undergraduate: 3.3/4.0 at USC. Major in Business Admin, Finance and Minor in Communications

Work background:
3rd year in Commercial Banking. Started as Analyst, Senior Analyst and now Corporate Banking Officer
After college, spent 3 months interning in the finance dept of an executive search firm in Madrid.

GMAT:
680 - planning to retake in May

Extracurricular:
Mentor inner city kids as part of a program to prepare them for college applications
Also serve as a mentor for another program to help inner city high school students learn about different career paths

I haven't decided exactly where I'll be applying yet, but i'm leaning towards Stern, Tuck, UNC, Booth and Yale. How realistic is this? Do you think they're all reach schools for me at this point?

Hi,

Thanks for sharing your profile! I would say that Booth, Tuck and Stern would be in the reach categories with your current profile. If you were to raise your GMAT score, though, they could be within reach. UNC and Yale should be realistic targets at this point, though again, raising your GMAT will increase your chances.

Your professional experience is really solid (especially since there are very few minority women coming from this field to bschool). It also sounds like you are active in the community (though I'd love to see more leadership in this area vs. just volunteering). Your academic scores are average, but I think if you could really raise your GMAT to the 720+ range, you could aim for Booth, etc.

Good luck!
Mili
