Profile Evaluation

by gismach Tue Mar 23, 2010 6:07 pm

Took the GMAT yesterday morning and got a 700. Here is my breakdown:

GMAT Prep: 590 (don't remember breakdown...or want to)
MGMAT 1: 610 (40Q, 34V),
MGMAT 2: 640 (43Q, 35V),
MGMAT 3: 680 (47Q, 36V),
MGMAT 4: 690 (45Q, 38V),
MGMAT 5: 700 (47Q, 39V),
Actual GMAT: 700 (47Q, 40V)

I took the online course and obviously it helped!

I'm looking to get in to a top business school in the northeast (HBS, Wharton, Columbia, Sloan, Yale, maybe Stern, etc.). Do you think I should try to retake the test one more time? Does getting a 720 vs. my 700 matter that much? I feel like I can improve my math score a little if I keep studying. What if I didn't break 700 next time (just in case)?

I think my application is pretty strong otherwise (top 15 undergrad, 3.7 GPA, I-banking (although less than a year at Bear Stearns), and working corporate now). Can someone please give me some guidance?

Thanks!

Hi, thanks for your inquiry and congratulations on pulling up your score so much!

I think as long as your V/Q scores are fairly balanced and 80% each, which I think yours are, there's no need to take it over again. The difference between 700 and 720 is not going to make a material difference in your profile. Your time is probably better spent getting to know your schools better, working on your essays, and focusing on your community involvement and work activities.

Good luck,
