Profile Evaluation

by Claire.B.025 Thu Aug 20, 2009 11:52 am

Hello,

I am planning to apply for fall 2010 and have made a shortlist of universities that I am planning to apply to. I would appreciate it if you could review my shortlist based on my below profile:

GMAT - 710 total (Q48-83%, V39-87%, AWA 5)

I'm a 28 year-old white female and graduated from a top 40 US school summa cum laude with a GPA of 3.8. In college, I participated in student government and other business oriented clubs.

I completed a 2 year investment banking analyst program followed by a 2 year private equity associate program, both at large, well known institutions. I have spent the last few months volunteering at an international ngo that provides business services to emerging markets.

Short List:
1. Harvard
2. Wharton
3. Stanford
4. Booth
5. Kellogg

Considering my profile, do you think these are realistic choices?

Thank you,
Claire

Hello,

Thank you for your inquiry. You do seem to have a strong profile. Based on what you have written, it appears that you will be competitive at these schools. It will be important for you to write about the times when you showed leadership and achievement at work and at the NGO you have been involved with. The key for you will be to demonstrate that you have had impact in the organizations in which you have worked. Harvard and Stanford may be reaches for you, simply because they are extremely competitive schools. I would certainly supplement these applications with others.

Sincerely,

Akiba Smith-Francis
