Profile Evaluation. . .

by tejas.shah Tue Apr 14, 2009 11:52 pm

I have done my Graduation in Instrumentation from University of Poona (INDIA AA+ rated University) in 2001, with an average score. I am student of MANHATTAN GMAT Hyderabad, INDIA.
As of date I am having 8 yrs of experience in the field of Power Generation (Energy field). At present I am leading 10 global projects (Australia, Russia, China, UAE, Qatar, Brazi and Srilanka) and also leading global (India, China, and France) team of Engineers.
I would like to go for MBA program having duration 12 - 15 months. I am going to take GMAT in the Month of July 09.

I have short listed following colleges

IMD Switzerland
ISB Hyderabad
Insead France.

How much GMAT score is required?
After doing MBA I would like to persue my carrer in the same Energy/Power business. Is there any other B Schools, which provide domain experience in Energy field?

Thank you for your inquiry. You have some strong aspects to your background that will make you stand out and be appealing to schools, namely tremendous global experience and leadership in an interesting field, but are facing the significant challenge of being part of a heavily over-represented and therefore very competitive demographic. While there certainly is no "required" GMAT score, given the competition within your demographic and the fact that you had an average score at University, you should aim for a high GMAT, 700 or more. Of course, this is not a "requirement" but something you should aspire toward.

The University of Texas is actually well known for its focus on the energy industry, if you want to target a school in this area.

Sincerely,
