Profile evaluation

by ravi Sun Dec 07, 2008 9:11 pm

Hi,

I appeared for GMAT last months. Not sure if I did my best and here is what I ended with -

Q - 49
V - 32
Overall - 670

I was expecting to do better. I want to apply for following colleges based on score I got
1. Ivey, Canada.
2. LBS, UK
3. SAID UK
4. Judge UK.
4. Kelly USA
6. Tepper, USA

I am from India and have engineering degree in Mechanical engg and have approx 8 years experience of IT consulting.

Could you suggest 1) the top most colleges where I stand fair chances to get into 2) Safe colleges.

I have 73% (they did not have CPA) from college education. Also I am thinking about retaking GMAT. Will that be a good idea or should I just focus on my applicatioms.

Thanks for your advise.

Thank you for your inquiry.

I think that you may be considering your profile too narrowly. Your GMAT does not exclude you from any of the schools of your choice. And, the process is not really scientific (8 yrs of work + GMAT of 670 + 73% GPA = ???). The process is much more "artistic" - based on what you have done in your career and in your community, more than pure numbers. Please describe your work experience and add some information about your community involvements and hobbies.

Sincerely,

Thanks for quick response !

Out of my 8 years of experience, 3 years is leading a team of 6-8 persons and working with client's various teams on business improvement/IT consulting. I have quite a good community work expereince back in India that inlcuded leading community empowerment initiatives, primary education improvements and fund raising initiatives for local branches for various local clubs.

My hobbies are reading, internet and I like to get involved with community work and volunteering.

Thanks.
