Profile Evaluation

by sb_14 Thu Nov 20, 2008 6:39 am

HI
I have scored a poor 600 (49Q,23 V) even though my score in Manhattan tests was 650-700.I feel i can score better but I am planning to go in August 2009.
Please suggest what should i do after going thru my profile:
I am an Indian Engineer with a 72 % aggregate from one of the top most engineering colleges.
Currently working with IBM from India location as a system engineer.
Work ex:1.5 yrs and by the time I go it would be 2 yrs.
No extra ordinary extra-curriculum activities.
Should I retake exam or go with this score.
When should I apply think about 2009 or 2010 for best prospects.
Please reply its urgent.

Thanks and regds

Saurabh,

Thank you for your inquiry.

Your question of whether or not to apply now is dependent on your ambitions. If you are targeting a top-20 program, from what you have provided, I think that you are facing a serious uphill battle year. You are an Indian technologist with no extras and a very low GMAT score. You have your work and that is it. If I were you and I were targeting top-programs, I would start to build my profile now for next year. You can take leadership roles in your community, advance personal goals, take a finance or accounting class, visit schools and improve your GMAT score - all facilitating a much stronger candidacy.

Sincerely,
Jeremy Shinewald

Hi Thaks for the reply,
I have cleared level 1 of CFA from ICFAI India which is recognised for its CFA course all over world.
Also I am ambitious to go in August 2009 but I dont want to compromise on college.I feel I have a good background.
When is the latest I should give GMAT second attempt to be considered for this fall.?
Should I wait and does college after first 20 matter in ranking?
