Hello! I request you to evaluate my profile and suggest programs that would suit me. Here's my profile. Thanks for your help!

1) Brief description of full-time work experience.

4 years of full time work experience. Currently working as a Software Analyst in the field of Business Intelligence (Industry: Gaming & Casino) leading the operations from India to provide IT support to various clients from US/Canada.

2) GMAT.

740 (second attempt)- 51 Q + 39 V + 5 AWA + 6 IR
680 (first attempt)- 50 Q + 32 V + 5 AWA + 8 IR

3) School & College info:

10th Board - 86 %
12th Board - 90 %
College: NIT-Trichy (India) (Among the top 10 Engineering colleges in India)
GPA: 7.4/10
Major: B.Tech in Electronics & Communication Engineering
Year of Graduation: 2010

4) Significant college and post-college extra-curricular activities or community service, especially leadership experience.

a. Part of the Chennai Trekking Club. Organised and led groups of people (5-15 people) on treks from Chennai.
b. Successfully completed a 6-day trek at the Himalayas (Chanderkhani Pass).
c. Part of the college department dance troupe. Paticipated and Won several inter-department dance competitions.
d. Performed several dance shows in dance forms ranging from Bharatnatyam, Indian Folk, Salsa, Jive, Cha Cha Cha.
e. Organized 2 flash mobs in the city.
f. Started an online jewellery store that specializes in unique handcrafted beaded necklaces.

5) Preference
Looking for decent brand with chances of attaining scholarship.

Hi there,

Congrats on the excellent GMAT score on your 2nd try! That is stellar. Overall it sounds like you have a variety of interests and experiences, which will help, and a great GMAT, but the work experience is very analytical/technical in nature... not a bad thing but that is common among many Indian applicants, so try to come up with examples of where you've demonstrated leadership, communication skills, how you've influenced others, etc. You'll also want to show how/why it is you've chosen to focus on management consulting post-MBA; make sure the transition and your overall story make sense.

Top 5-8 programs may still be a challenge unless you can really showcase leadership and create outstanding essays to show what you'll contribute to a class, but certainly your GMAT will get you noticed at most top programs, and it's up to the rest of your application to support that if possible.
