Profile Evaluation

by awedaewaa Thu Mar 21, 2013 6:41 am

Hi,

I have a Bachelor's degree in EE from a 2nd tier university in India where I graduated with distinction (79%). I also have a MS from Imperial College, London, also having graduated with a distinction (74.1%).

I've been working for the past 18 months as an automation engineer where I've also had some management experience managing contractors and projects. What do you reckon my chances are for a top school starting fall 2014? (I haven't given the GMAT yet).

Cheers.

Hi,

Sorry for the delayed response! Looks like you have a strong academic background. Professionally, I gather that you are not in IT -- when you say automation engineer, what exactly do you mean? As you may know, Indian Male IT Engineers have a tougher time getting into top schools simply because of the large size/competitiveness of the applicant pool. So, if you're not in IT, that's a plus. Still, I do not see any extracurriculars or community activities, or anything that really makes you stand out as a leader, so I think a top 10 program might be a stretch. If you score well on the GMAT, I'd suggest targeting Darden, UCLA and programs in that range.

Best of luck!
Mili
