Profile Evaluation

by salbal.nda Sat Aug 18, 2012 2:06 pm

Hello,

I am looking for a profile evaluation.

I am aiming for a business school among the top 15 schools globally. When I completed my MBA from a well known institute in India, I realized certain edges were still rough and there were quite a few skills which still needed polishing. Since i already have an MBA degree, my aim is not to go for any course, but rather one of the top 15 schools which will help me iron out my shortcomings.
Request you to go through my profile and let me know your thoughts on my chances in the top 15 schools.

Academic information:

Graduation - BSc Physics
Final year from (Fergusson College) Pune University 76%

Hello,

Thanks for the detailed info! I would say that your professional experience is quite strong - lots of leadership and responsibility for large international teams. Your extracurricular activities as a coach and your athletic achievements also are pretty impressive. For a top 15 school, your GMAT might be a bit weak (generally want to aim for 700+), so it could be worth a retake -- depends on your level of risk aversion.

The real issue you are going to face is proving to the adcoms why you need a second MBA. It is pretty common for people from international schools to later wish to attend a U.S. program, but I think it's definitely harder for these candidates to get admission. I suggest that you call the programs that you are interested in and ask their policy directly -- I think it's even harder at top schools for MBA holders to receive admission, but it depends on the school.

Your profile is competitive for a top school (ideally with a slightly higher GMAT), your story is interesting, but the fact that you already have an MBA kind of makes you a wildcard candidate.

Hope this is helpful,
Mili
