Profile Evaluation

by emmanuelwong1980 Fri Feb 17, 2012 7:30 pm

Hi i need some help with my profile evaluation.

Age: 30 yrs old
Working Experience: 3 years at an MNC graduate management (Non IT role) program, 3 years of military experience with a leadership role
GMAT: 690
Undergrad: London School of Economics with bad grades.
Postgraduate masters at Duke University with a 3.8 GPA and chairman of a professional club.
Community Involvement: I served and organized a couple of humanitarian missions in Asia but have stopped since i started work.

1) Should i retake my GMAT? I preferable do not want to.
2) I'd like to apply to Harvard, Columbia, Oxford (Said), Cambridge(Judge), Wharton, INSEAD. Are these schools within my reach of out of my league?

Hi! A 690 GMAT score puts you on the lower edge of the range for the top schools. If you could vault it into the low 700s, it would put you into a more comfortable spot. Additionally, remember that the GMAT is just one part of your application. You need to demonstrate to the AdCom that you have strong professional accomplishments and activities outside of work. You mention in your post that you haven't been involved in community work lately - that is something you might want to change in the months before you apply to business school.

Best of luck!
