Profile Evaluation

by lasvegas.aashu03 Fri Jan 13, 2012 4:49 am

Hi, i am planning on taking GMAT in Mar 2012. I am aiming for a score of 700 or above, as i am confident with my preparation.

Presently i have a work exp of 2 years, which is the border line for most of the b-schools. I have worked with KPMG for a year in the financial advisory and 1 year with a HR consultancy. I do have excellent recommendations.
I must be honest that my work ex does not boast of extra ordinary profile as a graduate and i can not completely rely on it. Hence i am aiming for a high GMAT score to compensate.

During my graduation, i have participated in organizing several cultural fest, Business fests. I have been a active member of the college placement cell.
My acads-
10th- 80%
12th- 88%
BBM- 60%

I am aiming for NUS singapore/Nanyang or European B-schools.
If you could throw light on what are my chances to get through with a 700+ score.

Hi! Business schools typically assess candidates on three things: their academics (as represented by the GMAT and their GPA), work experience and activities outside of work. A high score on the GMAT doesn't necessarily offset weak work experience. As you pull together your application, I suggest looking for ways to highlight your accomplishments at work and areas where you showed leadership potential - where you took risks or initiative or made decisions. A high GMAT will help you but you need to make sure you are giving them a balanced view of you and your experiences.

Best of luck,
Rachel Beck
