Profile Evaluation

by rsambhi Mon Oct 03, 2011 7:24 am

GMAT - 700 (Q50, V34, AWA4.0)

Graduation: Electronics and communication engg from NIT Kurukshetra

CGPA - 3.9/4.0

Work Exp - 9+ years Wipro/Intel/Cisco as senior software engineer.

- Can you please suggest me the list of colleges which I can consider applying?

- Also, should I consider retaking GMAT since verbal score is on the lower side.

Really appreciate if any valuable advice can be provided in this regard.

thanks

Hi Rsambhi,

Thanks for writing in. Do you have any reason to believe that an additional round of the GMAT will raise your verbal score? Did you consistently do better on Verbal on your practice tests? If not, then a V34 is still high enough to allow you to apply to competitive schools, even if your score is unbalanced. As for which schools, you need to think about which geography and programs appeal to you. Your age is going to be a bit of a factor as you'll be among the more-experienced candidates, so you'll need to really focus on the "why MBA now" element of your application. Given my limited knowledge of your goals I would start looking at the top-25, and perhaps select 1-2 top-15 schools as reach schools.

Best of luck,

Daniel Richards
