Profile Evaluation

by elcapitan1337 Thu Jun 23, 2011 5:20 pm

Hi,
I was hoping for a quick read based on my credentials.

- 3.6 undergrad GPA, 3.8 in major (econ), Georgetown university
- 2 years private debt/equity investment fund, 2 years private equity (1 now, will be 2 by this time next year)
- 740 gmat (45V, 47Q)
- Interned for 3 years at school's endowment management office, summer internship at sell-side equity research at top 5 bank
- Board member of school investment group - managed/invested $600k portfolio
- Tutored/mentored high school students through program since beginning work

Shooting for top b schools such as hbs, wharton, stanford, columbia.

Any comments or thoughts? Thanks.

Hi elcapitan

I see promising components in your academics/GMAT, work experience and extracurriculars, which are the three main pillars the schools will evaluate you on. You should be in the competitive mix at any school -- including those on your list. To take yourself to the next level though, think through your goals and "why mba" reasoning. There will be other candidates who boast similar credentials to you -- schools will analyze your essays to make sure your goals are logical, consistent and make sense based on your experience so far.

Best of luck!
