Profile Evaluation

by polowitz Tue Jan 18, 2011 5:27 pm

Hi,

I recently took the GMAT, got a 690 (77%Q, 83%V, 88%Overall).

I have 4 yrs of work experience in consulting for a small firm that does economic damages work for the US Dep of Justice. I'm currently a senior consultant. I've also launched and managed a small non-profit over the past 2 years. My undergraduate GPA is 3.4 from Cornell. I applied 2nd round to NYU, UVA and Michigan.

Wondering what my chances are?

Many thanks.

Hi Polowitz,

Thanks for writing in. Since we can only look at your application in retrospect at this point, I believe you will be a competitive candidate at the schools you list. Your GMATis within range and well-balanced, you have good academics from an Ivy school, your work experience is a bit unique and your nonprofit work should help differentiate you. Of course, it's mostly about how you presented this information and framed your "Why MBA?" question, but overall you should be in the mix at those schools. Good luck!
