Profile Evaluation Request

by shefaligmat Mon Oct 05, 2009 3:43 am

Hi,

I gave my GMAT last week and scored 690, V40 - M45.

Bellow is some information about my profile:

Education: Bachelor of Engineering-Electronics branch- 73%
Work Experience- 3 years- in IT (specifically- Mutual Funds Industry
Have got one role change till now and expecting one more promotion by next Jan-March.
Extracurricular- Have been working for CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) group within company and also working with an NGO for last one year.
Gender: Female
Nationality: Indian

I understand that my score is not very good but some friends suggested me it is not very bad either, especially for girls. I am aiming for the schools that are in first 25 ranks and are in Asia or Europe. I am aiming mainly INSEAD, ISB, University of Cambridge: Judge and Nanyang Business School.
I can consider US only if I can get through first 10, and the chances of that seem very low.

Please suggest where my profile stands and what schools would be good to apply.
Will it be advisable to apply one of the top schools too?
Please help.

Thanks,
Shefali

Hi -

We are most familiar with top US programs along with some of the European programs like INSEAD, London Business School, etc. For these schools your GMAT score may be a bit below their averages but well within the 80% range. Based on our experience, and as you can see from the class profile information European schools tend to favor candidates with a bit more experience. I believe you would have 4 years upon matriculation - average tends to be 5.

It is hard to provide a complete assessment without knowing the nature of your work experience and professional trajectory as well as extracurricular/nonprofit experience but we always recommend that our clients apply to a well-balanced list of schools. In your case, if you wanted to add a top US school as a stretch, that would be reasonable as long as you are balancing it with other less competitive programs.

I hope this helps.
