Profile Evaluation Request

by kfostl01 Tue Sep 23, 2008 5:40 pm

Hello,

I am having a hard time determining whether to apply for 2009 or 2010. Here is my profile

26 y/o caucasion female. Undergrad GPA 3.92 with degree in Finance/Accounting.

2 years investment banking analyst with middle market investment bank working in consumer group.

2 years (as of this month) with strategic Investor Relations Consulting Firm. Promoted from Assoc. to Vice President in less than 1 year. Now primary point of contact to C-level executives for private companies ranging from $500 million to $2 bn in market cap.

I will look to make a career change into Brand Managment post MBA.

If I apply 2009 I am limited to schools in Bay Area (Berekley and Standford) as am getting married and fiance just started new job up there. If I apply 2010, can apply everywhere. Just took GMAT first time and only scored 630 (87% V, 51% Quant) so I will need to retake.

Will I be hurt for 2009 by only applying to Bay Area schools? Will they see this as not committed? Do I have anything to lose by waiting a year to apply?

Who is the "they" you are referring to re: commitment?

If you apply in 2009 with the *option* of reapplying (and applying to other schools) in 2010, you give yourself more opportunities to get in both years instead of giving up 2009 entirely by opting to only apply in 2010. Not sure if that makes sense.
