Profile Evaluation Request

Age - 28 yrs

Work Exp :
- Current = 2 years in M&A at a value investing company (part buyout shop and part hedge fund )
- 1 year in NYC in a business valuation group

Academics :
BYU, BS and Master degrees in Accounting - 3.9 GPA

GMAT : 720 - 49 M; 40 V; 6.0 AWA

Other / Extracurricular :
- Passed L1 and L2 of the CFA
- CPA
- Scouting program volunteer
- London study abroad
- Case competitions, etc.
- Lived two years as a volunteer in Argentina - Spanish proficient

Recommendations :
Recs from executive at current company and from direct supervisor

Target Schools: H/W/S and Columbia

Interested In: Value investing, activist shareholder, buyouts, similar routes

Hi Rob,

Thanks for sharing those details. The basics of your profile read as a competitive, traditional candidate for those schools. I'd encourage you to add 1-2 more schools of the top-15 variety for diversity, but I think with a clear goal statement you should be able to be in the competitive mix at H/S/W. You'll definitely want to look for where you can differentiate yourself -- your two years in Argentina stick out as a possible option there -- and explain clearly how an MBA fits into your goals.
