Profile evaluation request

by anuragsaxena1 Mon Aug 01, 2011 10:25 pm

I am looking forward to pursue MBA from Ivy League. Presently I am working with PwC Consulting in New Delhi, India as Principal Consultant/Manager and will be taking GMAT in September 2011.

I have done B.Tech from NIT Trichy and worked with IBM Global Business Services before joining PwC Consulting. With close to 6 years of work experience, I have led several teams in IBM as well as PwC Consulting to deliver some of the complex assignments in India, USA, Kurdistan, Oman and Bangladesh.

As part my responsibilities, in the very beginning of my career itself I got an opportunity to work with senior leadership team of IBM Global Business Services to deliver a project from scratch which is helping in efficient management of more than 80000 employees.

In PwC Consulting I have been awarded two out of turn promotions and I am one of the youngest Managers working in the organization. Reporting directly to the Partner and global leader of Government transformation team I have traveled across India and some other developing countries to support senior most officials in high impact initiatives.

As a student I was co-founder of a technical festival which is one of the largest festivals in India as on date and has got a mention in Guinness Book of World Records as well. As a core team member of alumni association I am part of founding team of two big regional chapters of association and have organized several events.

Please share your comments related to fitment of profile and the the score i should target in GMAT into Ivy League. In particular i am targeting INSEAD, LBS, Harvard, Stanford and Yale. As time is short i may need to push my application to R2 and i need your suggestion for same as well.

Hi anuragsaxena1

Thanks for writing in. Your work experience sounds particularly strong and I encourage you to really point your accomplishments in your resume and essays to demonstrate the early career success you've had. The complete MBA application will also demonstrate strengths in Academics and Extracurriculars too. Without a GMAT score or a GPA to evaluate that part of your profile is incomplete. I think you want to try and surpass 720 to be a serious candidate at the schools you list.

In regards to your extracurriculars, the Guinness record achievement is intriguing but in general you want your contributions to be focused on the post-college years; perhaps your work with the Alumni club can fit in here?

Overall I see the makings of a top-10 profile but would need more information for a fuller assessment.

Best of luck,

Daniel Richards
