Profile Evaluation Request

by shilpa31 Mon May 09, 2011 1:14 pm

Hello,

This forum is great. I have some concerns regarding my MBA aspirations and would love to get some feedback.

Well my story isnt great , I have a bad undergrad GPA ( Indian university , VTU ) which is about 56 % and have about 10 backlogs. My GMAT wasnt anything to celebrate either , I have attempted the GMAT thrice and my highest score is 630.

Could I make it to atleast one of the top 30 universities , I am a US citizen and think I will be evaluated as a domestic applicant. I am confident that my GMAT needs to be higher as I have consistantly underperformed and beleive that I could touch a 700.

Is a 4th attempt viewed with skepticism and do I have a chance at around top 30?

I have a strong extra curricular record and I have worked in a project management role where I have impressed my managers and have maintained strong relations with my clients.

Waiting for your insights...

Hi Shilpa,

Thanks for writing in and the nice compliment. Typically programs will only look at your highest GMAT performance, so if you think a 700 really is in range you may want to take it again -- as the difference between a 630 and 700 should open up more doors for you.

I can't really say much about your chances at top-30 without knowing more about your work experience, extracurriculars and goals, but with the information you've provided I think that's right about where I would suggest you pick schools that meet your interests.

Best of luck!
