Profile Evaluation Please

Hi,

I need expert advise on my profile.

It would be great if you could list some schools where I have better than good probability to get admission in. I have already applied to few schools but I wish to know a bit more about if my GMAT is good or not.

Nationality- Indian
Gender- Female
Education- BTech (2006)
GPA- 7.1/10
GMAT- 690 (Q48,V36). Best Q50
Target Industry- Consulting
Work experience-
1) Accenture- Software Engineer- 3 years 6 months
1 promotion
awarded 8 times
Significant contribution to the organization stories
Few minor leadership experiences- no reporting employees under me

2) Entrepreneurial Experience
Opened a marketing consulting company in 2010- >1 year
Role- consultant
Did not turn up well, low revenue and couldnt get the authorities to register my company ...usual corrupt bumbledom story of my place.
Great learning experience
Worked with wedding planners, education institutes, NGOs on planning marketing strategies

Total experience- 58 months

EXTRACURRICULUM:

Role- Event Manager ( 2 years)

Role- Captain/Founder

- Gathering employment and financial statistic of the families and memorandum formulation, which was presented to Member of Legislative assembly
- Got US$20000 allocated for the school and additional fund for supplements supply for women from local government authority.

Time- 5 months
Location- Bangalore India
Agenda-awareness about commercialization of genetically modified food

-Organized 10 awareness camps all over the city.

Organization: Corporate Social Responsibility- Accenture
Role- Volunteer
Time- 1 week
Location- Bangalore India
Agenda-VSO Tanzania Cause 2009- A fundraiser for the AIDS affected people and education of children in Tanzania.

I mentioned my best quant score above to get your perspective on whether I should retake GMAT for job purposes post-graduation.
My target company is McKinsey, and I have heard that it requires/favors 700+ in gmat.

Hi! Given your background and your GMAT score, I think you are a competitive candidate for an MBA - but maybe outside the top schools (HBS, Stanford, Wharton). I would look for some schools right below that level. In order for your to stand out from the crowd, look for ways to differentiate yourself. Your background is in software engineering, and that is a crowded space in the b-school application process. But you also started your own business - which is a differentiator (even though it failed!).
