Profile evaluation please

Hi ,

Would appreciate if you could shed some light on my chances. My main target schools are Insead and LBS.

Age:31
Country: Indian
Status: Married
Languages: English, Hindi
Background: Electrical Engineer

Degree:
- Bachelor in Electrical Engineering from state college
( GPA 3.5/5.0 ~69% )

Experience: 10 Years . Totally into Investment bank IT, various functions in capital markets. Understand IB functioning.
- 1 year Engineer Trainee at an Industrial Automation Service provider
- 6 year in one of largest Indian Software services company , managed onsite team for various IB clients. Resigned as Asst. Consultant
- 3 years (current) managing IT deliveries for Middle office, APAC. Largest Swiss Bank

Extracurricular Activities: Had accident at 8 because of which nearly lost an eye. So, had a tough childhood owing to the fragile physical condition. However, I started getting better since I started in engineering college.
No constant participation though some in college and some in office.

International Exposure: India - 5 years
Tokyo - 4.5 years
Singapore - currently

GMAT1: 620 Q47 V28
GMAT2: 680 Q45 V37

Target Schools:
- London Business School
- INSEAD
- Kellogg
- Ross
- Chicago

Post mba I wish to be in Operations (running business) or PE/VC (creating business), depends on how things unfold during the course.
Am not sure but should i retake GMAT ? Aim for 720+, I think i can just that my hectic office schedule and 2 relocation in last 1.5 year keep me from concentrating. But would be stable now.

Hi mbadc,

Thanks for writing in. I do think that if these are your target schools you may want to try and get your GMAT higher, especially if you think a 720 is in range for you. I believe all the schools you list have average GMATs above 700.

As you probably realize you on the older side of the application pool, and with 10 years of experience you will want to make a strong case as to why you can benefit now from an MBA, and why it will open doors for you that your previous experience could not.
