Profile evaluation-please help

by vo10 Sat Aug 07, 2010 11:04 pm

My goal is admittance into an Accounting PhD program starting next fall. Although I would like to be choosy, I know that now I just need to get into a university that is reputable.

Undergrad - Psychology GPA 3.6 (State University)
Master's Degree in Accounting GPA 3.7 (same State University)
Work experience - just shy of 3 years at Big 4
I left EY in Nov 2009 and have been teaching Managerial Accounting at a University and will teach Accounting Information Systems this upcoming Fall and Spring semesters.

GMAT - 570 (very unlike all of my practice tests)

Question 1 - Do I have a chance at a program?
Question 2 - What type of schools should I look at? Is U of Illinois and Oklahoma St too ambitious?
Question 3 - Would it help if I hired someone to write my resume?

Thanks in advance!

Hi vo10,

Thanks for writing in. Unfortunately my knowledge of the admissions process is limited to MBA programs, so I am not familiar with what Accounting PhD programs are looking for, nor do I know about the desired programs you are looking at.

Sorry I can't be of more help.
