Profile Evaluation - PhD (Accounting)

by anthonysantos Wed Sep 08, 2010 8:04 am

Hi,

I would appreciate it if you could evaluate my profile - I'm looking to apply for a PhD in Accounting starting Fall '11.

My profile:
- 28 yrs, based in India
- GMAT: 750 (Q-49; V-44), AWA 4.0
- Master's in Commerce (Financial Accounting) - exp 2011
- Bachelor's in Commerce (Financial Accounting) 1st Division - 2003
- Took all parts of the CPA exam in a span of 11 days and passed (Average score of 91 on a scale of 0 - 99) - 2007
- Passed Level II of the CFA Program - 2010
- 4 years of work experience in Financial Services majors.

I have sent my GMAT scores to Harvard, Wharton, Booth, UT at Austin and Stern, and intend applying to another 5-6 schools in the immediate/next rung.

My questions in particular are:
- Is the GMAT score sufficient to atleast get a look in at my target schools? Will the AWA score be a drawback?
- How good are my chances provided the essay and letters are alright?

Thank you very much in advance!

Hi Anthony,

Unfortunately MBA Mission specializes in Business schools, so I am not familiar with the process for PhDs in Accounting.

Best of luck in the process, though.
