Profile Evaluation - Indian, GMAT-650 with 5 years exp

by sureshreddy003 Sat Dec 01, 2012 2:28 pm

Hi,

This is Suresh from India. I was a regular visitor at your forum and was taught by Stacey to improve my GMAT score, thanks to her. I wanted to get a confirmation from you about the list of schools that I opted for for my profile.

GMAT - 650 ( Maths - 48 ; Verb - 32)
AWA - 5 ( In last attempt I got 6)
Experience - 5 years in IT industry.
GPA - I have 75% in Mechanical Engineering, may be it would be 3.5 GPA

I am a 26 year old Indian IT software engineer. I have a GPA which is at par with most business school requirements.
I am a senior QA engineer at ADP Private Limited.
I am the Single Point of Contact for few critical business processes in my team.
I was the acting lead during a project, in my lead's absence and was also a lead for 4 months in WIPRO, before I moved to a different company.
My presentation about a project made client's give an immediate approval for a $10million project.

Below are some recognition's which I won during my career.
 Promoted to Senior Member Technical within one year of joining.
 Rewarded with "Feather in My Cap" for my seamless contribution in UNINOR project.
 Awarded with TITAN’S Award -The award for the Best Team in Delivery in Testing Services for UNINOR Project.
 Awarded with consecutive "Associate of Month" in two consecutive quarters and was the first one to achieve this.
 Received e-recognitions from ADP-US Leads and Manager for the excellent contribution in Release Management team.
 Won first prize in the event "MECHANATRIX" at the All India technical fest "SAMAVARTHAN 2K6".
 Won 1st prize in an English essay competition that was held among many schools in Hyderabad.
 Awarded Best team for BGCOE (MICROSOFT).

Based on my profile, I have shortlisted some schools but I am unable to filter them further.

Dream Universities
Texas A&M College station
Kenan-Flagler
Kellogg

Best fit
Maryland-Smith
Florida-Hough
Indiana-Kelley
Rice Jones

Also, I am trying to opt for Rutgers-New Jersey, Wake Forest Babcock & University of Texas-Dallas as a safe bet.

What do you suggest about this short list of schools. Do I have chances to the best fit schools with my profile.

If I had to opt for 2 best fit schools, then which universities would you suggest and also give your opinion on dream schools, which I have opted for or suggest me if there are any better schools that suit my profile.

Please suggest.

Thanks,
Suresh

Hi Suresh,

Thanks for sharing your profile. I would say that of your dream schools, Kellogg would not be an option. However, Texas A&M might be a possibility. UNC may also be a possibility - it's difficult to say.

I think your best fit schools are reasonable targets. It's difficult for me to choose two... Kelley may be slightly more difficult simply because so many Indian IT Males apply, but you never know. You'll have to choose based on what you feel is the right fit.

Your safety schools look like good options to me.

Looks like you've done your homework. Good job!
