Profile Evaluation , GMAT Score 690 ,, 9+ year Work exp

Hello,

I am Indian National, working in an one of the biggest I.T. company in the world. I am currently working as a fulltime employee outside India. I have 9+ years of experience, mostly international. I got various awards and appreciation during my work. I want to apply for full time MBA at following universities in 2012 , By that time i will have 10+ years of experience. Can you please let me know how is my chance with the score of 690 ?

2. IMD
3. INSEAD
4. Wharton
5. MIT
6. Stanford.

Hi guaravbhagat,

Thanks for writing in. You didn't mention much about your post-MBA goals or reasons for pursuing the degree. I am concerned, however, that you are would be a bit out of range for the schools you listed. IT is traditionally over-represented in the applicant pool, your GMAT is below the median at most of those schools, and schools are going to wonder why you decided to wait 10 years, which will likely put you among the oldest students.

To give yourself a stronger chance, you'll want to attack these questions head-on, using your essays to explain exactly why you did wait 10 years to apply, and why now is the right time for you to get an MBA. You may also want to look into EMBA programs, where your profile would likely be more competitive.
