Profile Evaluation - GMAT 670, WE 4+

by shivank.tandon Sun Dec 02, 2012 10:29 am

Hello!

Earnest request to evaluate my profile for Full Time MBA programs. Thanks!

GMAT Score: GMAT1: 610
GMAT2: 620
GMAT3: 670 q50 v31 AWA & IR: Awaited.

While I did well in Quant in my third attempt, my verbal score remains poor.

Background:
Passed out from top Engineering school of India (IIT Kanpur) in 2008. I have a GPA of 3.0/4.0 which is a little above the average score. My extra curricular are also average though I was awarded a Gold Medal by Aluminium association of India for my B.tech Project. I have attended many Research conference as well and presented my work.

At work place, i have been awarded couple of times for my work (Star of the quarter) and was promoted on Monetary terms. I think i can get good recommendations.

Work Profile: I have roughly 4.5 years of work Experience and currently working with a Private Bank as Senior Manager.

What kind of Universities should I focus on?

Do I have any chance among top 20 US Universities? I am not focusing on European Universities

I am planning to apply in NUS so what are my odds?

I am confused if I should go for GMAT again as this would be my 4th attempt. Please suggest

Hello,

Thanks for sharing your profile. Senior Manager is an impressive title - do you work at a bank branch? Could you be a little more specific about your professional experience? I think the answer to this will really impact my response.

If you work in a retail bank branch, a top 20 program would be a stretch. I would probably aim for lower tier 1 or tier 2 programs in that case. In this case, a higher GMAT probably wouldn't make a significant difference, so I would probably suggest sticking with your score (unless you are very confident you can improve it on the next go).

As for NUS, I know the program is getting more competitive, so it's hard to say. It's probably a reach for your profile based on what I know.

Please do give more info regarding your professional experience though.

Thanks,
Mili
