profile evaluation for mba 2009

Here is my brief profile. Thanks in advance.

Male. Asian Canadian. Grew up in Shanghai, living in Canada since I was 19/20.

Undergrad: BA major in CS, minor in Economics at McGill in Montreal. GPA: 3.3/4.0

Graduate: M.Sc. in CS part-time basis while I was working full-time.

GMAT: shooting for at least 700+.

Professional experience: 5 - 6 years software development experience in both top start-ups and blue-chip telecom companies in Canada, being a lead software developer and senior software engineer. Lead some high profile projects successfully from inception to launch.

Extra: VP for McGill International student networks for student mentoring and language exchange. Web editor (photography) for student run McGill tribune newspaper. 5 year dragonboat paddlers competing for different races per year, team captain once, and fundraiser. Professional member for both IEEE and ACM.

Language: mandarin, english, french (basic), japanese (conversational)

MBA focus: Entrepreneurship, Strategy, General Management.

Post-MBA: Product Management and Stragetic Planning in the hi-tech industry.

I am considering INSEAD, but not sure if any other top program might be a good choice and I have a fair chance to get in.

In short, you should be competitive for schools like INSEAD so long as your GMAT is decent (i.e. high 600s minimum, 700+ ideally) -- the rest of your profile is strong and in line with the kinds of admits at INSEAD. Just focus on your GMAT, and put together a strong application.

As for other schools, it really comes down to your personal preferences. Your profile is strong enough that you can shoot for the top schools.
