Hi Daniel,
Thanks a lot for taking out time from your regular schedule and providing a wonderful support to the aspirants.
Hats off to you !!!
I am a 29 year old Indian aspiring for a 2nd MBA to satisfy my career objectives. Please find below a brief of my profile :-
- GMAT 2nd Attempt ( 730 Q-50 V- 38 ) - Appeared in August 2007
- GMAT 1st Attempt ( 660 ) - Appeared in September 2006
- Pre-MBA work ex of 4 years in software Industry with Fotune 200 Firms
- Pursued an MBA from international campuses of one of the Indian B - Schools ( Ranked 68 in FT Global Top 100)
- Post MBA work-ex of around 2.5 years now ( Total work ex of 6.5 years till date)
- Currently Employed with Business Consulting Division of a Fortune 500 Technology Major with the Consumer Goods Practice. Have some good assignments with marquee clients in CPG space in areas such as Supply Chain, Procurement, Strategic Sourcing, Trade Promotion, etc under the belt. All in all the profile is a mix of Supply Chain Consulting with a Technology Bend
Worked exposure in US and have been to Australia, Middle East and Singapore for Study / Leisure.
- Reasons for second MBA : To break into top tier of consulting firms , something that I believe won't be possible with my current degree
For the reasons stated above, I have following two courses in mind for now
- INSEAD ( targeting Jan 2013 batch )
- IMD ( Although it is more famous for industry links, they have a decent placement in consulting space too. And to be honest, moving to CPG industy as an option is something am not ruling out altogether )
Although my score will expire in August 2012, as enquired with the INSEAD adcom and they are fine with a score that is valid when the Application is recieved and not necessary tied to the batch start date.
Looking at above could you please suggest me a direction on following areas
- What are my chances at above two schools ? I know that there is a lot more than just the numbers, but am sure I can weave a good story around my reasons. I have no hesitation in admitting that I never have had that level of exposure/resources/risk apettite to think about a top MBA and hence settled for what was best option available then. However, its only after getting a tremendous exposure in my current job that this realization has dawned upon me
- Will 2013 be a right time to aspire for a 2nd MBA? Please note that my GMAT score is valid only till Aug 2012 and ideally I wouldn't like to take a 3rd shot at it
- Apart from above two schools, could you please suggest me few other 1 year courses where 2nd MBA wouldn't be a hurdle and my career objectives are met?
Thanks a lot for your help and insights
