Hi,

I am currently working a start up in NYC - which i recently joined. I worked at large investment bank (2 years) before where I did very well - and will have strong recommendation letters to back this. My other experiences include starting a company and working through it throughout college. I currently do some volunteer work and have a blog with a strong following.

I went to U of Mich and graduated with a business degree with a 3.4gpa.

My GMAT was 720.

How would I fair in top 10 MBA programs?

Thanks!

Hi there,

Your academic background sounds great. Professionally, your IB stint gives you a lot of credibility, while your startup experience shows you are able to take initiative, take calculated risks, deal with ambiguity, lead, etc. I don't see much in the way of extracurriculars/community work (outside of your blog), but this may be forgiven if your startup has been pretty successful.

I think you're well positioned for a top ten if your startup is on the up and up. If it's flailing, you could be slightly less competitive - but generally it's not about success/failure, much more about experience/learning.

Good luck!
Mili
