Hi Aditya

Thanks for writing - and it looks like you definitely have some strong work experience and a diverse background that would make for compelling essays. You will want to make sure that you explicitly tie this background into the why you want go to get your MBA, and call out the specific strengths of each school and how they match well with your interests.

Assuming you achieve your presumed GMAT of 730+, I think you have selected a good mix of schools. As I am sure you know, HBS and Wharton are among the most selective schools and the competition will be tough. NYU and Michigan are good choices as well to diversify your chances.

The key will be to differentiate yourself through your background - taking advantage of opportunities to write about your startup and farming project where applicable. Take a look at a recent blog post we did on how to differentiate yourself when you come from an "over-represented" group (http://www.mbamission.com/blog/2010/05/31/monday-morning-essay-tip-overrepresenting-your-overrepresentation/). Luckily you have some great experience that the general candidate pool won’t have, and you should look to discuss them in one or two of your essays.

At age 29, I do not believe you are at an age that an admissions officer would negatively perceive. But it is critical in your essays that you explain why now is the right time for you to be going for your MBA. If you can tie that into your motivation for an MBA (and I like how you mention your desire to develop leadership and negotiation skills), then 29 is certainly not "too old."

Best of luck!
