Hello,

I am 22 years old and I’m currently working as an analyst for a market intelligence firm. I graduated from Purdue University with a 3.2 in management and marketing. I hope to someday transition into a Brand Management or Market Research role and think that an MBA will be a valuable tool. I have not yet taken the GMAT but I’m planning to get some solid work experience and go back for an MBA full time when I feel the time is right (expecting 2-3years). I will also be applying for the Consortium of Graduate Study in Management.

Throughout college I had 3 internships and was very involved in several student organizations and worked part time as a fitness instructor and teaching assistant. I currently volunteer at a local chapter of Boys and Girls Clubs of America. The schools I feel I have a good fit with are University of Wisconsin Madison and Indiana University for their Brand Management and Market Research programs. Can you give me a target range that I should aim for on the GMAT for these schools? Also are there any other schools that I should be considering for Market Research? So far the only one that I am aware of is Madison.

Any advice would be GREATLY appreciated!

With your experience, you may be underestimating your candidacy - you can probably aim higher, depending on the GMAT score as well. For the schools you mentioned if you score around the mid-600s, your GMAT won't be an issue. If you score in the high 600s or even 700+, it may even be worthwhile to apply to schools like Michigan, Kellogg, NYU, Duke.
