Profile Analysis please

Hi,
My profile is as follows:
DOB - November,1987
85% in HSC and SSC.
GMAT Score - 680

I intend to further improve on my GMAT score.
I have 27 months of work experience.
I have worked in 2 Multinational software companies as a software developer .
While in college , I co-founded a club which organizes Model United nations summit.
I volunteer in local schools where i teach football and I also take classes at times.

I want to get into a top b-school in Europe or USA.
>> I feel that my software development job profile will not help me in getting admission to a top b-school. Am i right ?
>> Should I really change my profile asap and get a job that gives me more managerial experience ( say manager of a adventure sports company).

I want to apply for courses starting in 2014.
How should I enhance my profile so that i get into a good b-school ?

Hi Piyush,

Sorry for the delay and thank you for your patience. You are correct that your IT background will be a disadvantage in getting admissions in a top US or European school - there are simply too many applicants from your demographic with your background. So, unless you have other exceptional things to tout, your application will look like thousands of others.

Changing your career trajectory could definitely help. Just make sure that whatever you change to is in line with your ultimate career goals (your career goals essay will need to clearly justify the shift) and that it provides you more opportunity to work in and lead teams and make business decisions.
