prethinking for CR

by RAHULZ400 Thu Sep 29, 2016 11:55 pm

Hi,

I wanted to know the utility of prethinking in CR. I mostly read the question stem and then look at the choices and take a decision based on the alignment of choice with the question stem. I am not used to prethinking at all and rely on spotting the choice and relating it with the content? Kindly advise if this method is fine or shall I change my approach. At present CR seems to be my weakest area as per the mock CATs.

this isn't the kind of thing you can ask in general. this question would only be meaningful in the context of each individual question.

sometimes you'll be able to predict the answer EXACTLY, if you think carefully enough.
sometimes you'll be able to narrow the possibilities to just a few different things before looking at the choices.
...and sometimes you really won't be able to predict much of anything, and you'll have to proceed from the choices themselves.

beyond this, you'll have to ask questions about specific individual problems (in the appropriate folders, of course).
