"There is only one definition of success "” to be able to spend your life in your own way."
To what extent do you agree or disagree with this definition of success? Support your position by using reasons and examples from your reading, your own experience, or your observation of others.

Definition of success that spend your life in your own way obviously have to base on the assumption that people who trying to make their lives successful should own the right of totally freedom. Further more, the dimension of success in the example has ignored the effects coming from moral, society, and laws.

Firstly, nobody can share absolutely freedom to do what they want to, they have to conform to the laws as long as they live in the society. If there is a man who like to using rifle to shot people, can we allow him to shot as many innocent residents as he want to cater the so called success of this person? Of course not, for we have to engage ourselves to the strength of law. With this restriction, most of ideas have become the fantasy to most of people.

Moreover, even if people who have gained millions of money from the lottery, apparently could do anything legally and spend his or her life in his or her way, we still can not consider him as the sample of success, because success can not equal with satisfaction easily, which is another misunderstanding of the definition. From the logical illation, there are many factor could lead one to success, and success usually presented with doing anything he or she want, buying whatever he or she likes, and so on, whereas all of these consequents produced by the success are not necessary for it. Although we see a rich person to spend his or her life in luxury way, we can not simply define the reason by the result.

Last but not the least, we all live under the circumstance that make us to judge success by a amount of effects beyond the narrow definition based on the personal value. More and more elements, such as the pursuing of one’s career goal, the life style, contributions to the society (at least have no negative affect), personal interest came to group up a comprehensions to success.

In sum, the proposed definition of success is far too limiting that we should add some points to it to make it more convincible.

Sorry we instructors can't help you out on this, but perhaps some of your fellow students will offer advice!
