please evalusate my profile : 3 years(IT) ex + 680 gmat

Hello,

Wanted to get your feedback on my profile and to which school i should apply for . my profile details are as mentioned below :

GMAT
-1st attempt (took in spring 2009)
680- (48Q, 35V)

Education
-B.Tech in information Technology -3.7 GPA

Work Experience
-2 years of full time work experience as a software program at Accenture services pvt ltd . and would have 3 years of ex by the time i join any school in the fall of 2013 .


Other Activities
-vice president of NGO.
-member of other social welfare organisations .
-won 4 awards in my organisation a span of 2 years in my career.
-active member of disaster management board ( govt of india).
-was co-ordinator of events at college festivals during undergrad education
-gym enthusiast
-part time model


Target Schools
-please tell me about the school i shoud target at


Reason for MBA
-I want to grow in my current work area i.e Information Technology .I want to move from a developers role into a managerial role in IT domain itself . I believe i can apply my existing technical expertise to understand the challenges faced by the team or a project , and building upon which i will be able to manage a project in better manner .


What are your thoughts on my profile? Strengths/Weaknesses? which schools in USA i should target for ? . Would it be wise to give it one more crack? It would be my second time and i am not too keen on taking the test gain , as i believe i have scored above what is considered to be a good score .

Hi!! Let's start with your academics. Your GPA is good, and your GMAT is fine, though at the bottom edge for many of the top schools. Given your background, I would considering taking the test again to see if you can raise your score. As for your work experience, the key here will be your ability to showcase your accomplishments. There are many technologists applying to business schools every year, but what do you have to offer that differentiates you from the others. In terms of your outside activities, also look for opportunities to highlight your leadership and accomplishments. It's not so much how much time you put into these activities, but what impact do you have on the groups you are part of.

As for what schools are right for you, that's difficult for me to assess. You need to decide if you want a school in a city or a college town; do you want a mandatory or flexible curriculum; do you want a school with a heavy emphasis on the case study method or not; do you want a large school or a smaller school. Ask yourself each of those questions, and that will help you narrow down your list of where you want to be.

Hi Rachel ,

Thanks for evaluating my profile .I went though the sites of many colleges . After analyzing the profiles of current students and alumni at the schools , i realized that schools like Tepper have students with over all profile like that of mine .

what are your thoughts ? Is my current profile good enough to get me a seat in the class of fall 2013 ?
